Green Star Compliance

Breen Resources has been independently audited as compliant against the Green Star Construction and Demolition Waste Reporting Criteria. Our Kurnell facility can now be used for projects seeking Green Star certification.

What this means for your project

If you are a head contractor, project manager, or sustainability manager working on a Green Star rated project, you are required to demonstrate that construction and demolition waste generated on site has been disposed of at a facility that meets the Green Star C&D Waste Reporting Criteria.

Breen Resources is that facility.

Every load received at our Kurnell facility is weighed, documented, and tracked through our waste management system. The source of all incoming material and the fate of all outgoing material is recorded and auditable. Reports are available to clients on request to support your Green Star project submissions.

What the audit found:

The independent audit, conducted by EcCell Environmental Management and auditor Jo Drummond, assessed our facility across three criteria:

Criterion One — regulatory compliance, EPA licensing, and development consent. Result: Compliant.
Criterion Two — weighbridge systems, waste tracking, and the separation of recyclables from residual waste. Result: Compliant.
Criterion Three — annual diversion rates from landfill, independently verified. Result: Compliant.

Overall finding: Compliant. 89.33% of all material processed at our Kurnell facility during the audit period was recycled, recovered, or reused rather than committed to landfill.

Our commitment to product quality

Breen Resources produces roadbase, aggregates, and bedding sand from 100% pre-separated infeed materials. We do not blend contaminated soils or skip bin fines into these products. Every batch is independently sampled and third-party tested. Results are available on request.

What leaves our facility is what it is labelled. Nothing more, nothing less.

About the Green Star C&D Waste Reporting Criteria

Green Star is Australia’s national sustainability rating system, managed by the Green Building Council of Australia. The Construction and Demolition Waste Reporting Criteria sets the standard for waste processing facilities servicing Green Star building sites, requiring independent annual audits to verify compliance with waste tracking, reporting, and diversion requirements.
