Mulch delivery to Shell Cove
Breen Resources recently supplied 400 cubic metres of recycled mulch to Simpsons Landscapes for use across the Shell Cove residential and harbour development on the NSW South Coast.
The mulch was produced at our resource recovery facility on the Kurnell Peninsula, made on site from recovered natural timbers processed through our operation. Every tonne started life as timber waste at another Sydney site before being sorted, screened, and returned to circulation as a finished landscape product.
A working supply partnership
The delivery represents an ongoing supply partnership between Breen Resources and Simpsons Landscapes, one of the region’s established landscape contractors. Simpsons chose Breen based on consistency of supply, the ability to move volume quickly, and the quality of the finished material across a major multi-stage development.
For Breen, the partnership reflects a wider pattern. Sydney’s construction and civil sector is increasingly looking for material suppliers who can deliver certified recycled products at scale, and who have the compliance infrastructure to support head contractors under growing sustainability reporting requirements.
The circular economy at work
The Shell Cove supply is a straightforward demonstration of what a working circular economy looks like in practice.
Timber waste generated by construction and demolition activity across Greater Sydney is delivered to our Kurnell facility. That material is sorted, screened, and processed on site into a finished landscape product with a particle size suitable for use across parks, gardens, foreshores, and civil rehabilitation projects.
The finished mulch then leaves Kurnell as bulk supply to landscape contractors, civil operators, and councils, who deploy it on the projects where it makes new landscapes possible. In this instance, on the South Coast at Shell Cove, one of the largest coastal redevelopment projects in the region.
Nothing about that pathway is theoretical. It is what our Kurnell facility does every day, at scale, and it forms part of the 254,114 tonnes of construction and demolition material we returned to Sydney and South Coast projects across FY26.
