Our Board Of Directors

Ben joined the Breen Group Board in 2007 as Governing Director and played an integral strategic role in guiding the companies through successful property development at Shearwater Landing, Cronulla, and the current business growth cycle.
In 2020, Ben became Chairman of the Breen Group and continues to focus on new technology and updated processes to better recycle construction and demolition waste products.
His focus on growth, information technology, and secure business processes led to the implementation and continuous enhancement of Breen’s ERP and business intelligence systems. Ben has helped drive an investment in people, processes and plants that are aligned with the Group’s growth strategy and that distinguish the Breen Companies in the marketplace.

Tom Breen, an individual with a 60-year working career, began his career with Metropolitan Sand Co. in 1962. He later worked as a consultant in the construction materials and minerals sectors. Tom founded Status Resources Australia in 1981 and gained international commercial experience with major global resource corporations.
In 2001, he was appointed a non-executive director of the Breen Group and became Chief Executive Officer and Chairman in 2007. Tom restructured the Breen Group to improve profitability and developed Breen Property Pty Ltd into a successful property development business.

Stephen is one of Australia’s most respected senior practitioners in restructuring and corporate advice. He has undertaken many high-profile roles, including Lehman Brothers Australia, advising the Australian Government on major matters, including Ansett Airlines, ABC Childcare and the South Australian Government on restructuring Arrium Limited. He was the founder and Chairman of the national corporate advisory firm, PPB Advisory. His wealth of corporate experience is a significant benefit to the deliberations of the Breen Group Board.
Stephen is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, a Life Member of ARITA and a fellow of the Institute of Company Directors. He holds several Board roles, including ILGA (Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority), and is a Commissioner with the NSW Independent Casino Commission.

Andrew has been involved with restructuring and insolvency for over 35 years. He was a senior partner of Ferrier Hodgson until 2008 and is now a consultant. In that time, he advised major local and overseas companies and financial institutions in a broad variety of restructuring and formal insolvency assignments. During this time, he specialised in the Resources Industry. He has been an independent company director of a number of companies over a 25-year period in the Resources, Financial Services and Property Industries. This has involved extensive corporate experience in Asia, Africa, Canada and United States.

Nick has over 25 years of experience in all areas of planning, environmental, and valuation law. He has a large practice acting for government agencies, local councils, semi-government bodies, and private organisations. Currently, Nick is acting as an advisor for the Breen Group. Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University and a Doctor of Philosophy, Planning and Environmental Law from the University of Sydney (1998).
Our Executives

Damien, a civil engineer and property development professional, is the Chief Executive Officer of Breen Group. He oversees property development, land remediation, earthworks, and waste management. With experience in civil and structural engineering, construction, and business management, Damien has served on the boards of the Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association and the Sutherland Shire Business Chamber.

Stephen has extensive finance experience in Australia, Asia and the UK/Europe in the property, funds management, construction, and food & beverages industries, where he led and managed large regional and corporate finance teams. He has proven success in strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, team restructuring and management, cost reduction, capital management, equity and debt raising and tax-efficient structuring. His experience includes being a part owner, managing, and successfully selling a software development company.
Stephen is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.

Michael is a qualified civil engineer with 25 years of experience in Waste Management, Civil and Environmental Engineering. As Operations Manager for Breen Resources, Michael is responsible for the operational performance of Breen’s landfill and recycling facilities.
Prior to working with Breen, Michael held senior roles with the BMD Group, Thiess Services and was Managing Director and Principal Engineer for Remedion Pty Ltd. Michael’s experience in landfills and waste management, environmental work, civil infrastructure, and construction, combined with his business management qualifications make him a valued member of the Breen Resources Management team.

Ian has a long history in the heavy industrial, waste and recycling sector spanning 26 years. Over this time, Ian worked for several large and mid-sized companies, and he held a diverse range of roles, including NSW Technical Manager, NSW Operations Manager, Australian Commercial Manager, Site Manager, and Sales Manager.
Ian’s current role is the Sales and Marketing Manager for the Breen Resources business. These responsibilities include the management of all customers and administration staff at Breen Resources, pricing and negotiations with customers, tender submissions, marketing, product management/scheduling and sales, contract management and weighbridge operations.

Geoff is an experienced waste professional with extensive experience across Australia. As National Sales Manager, Geoff has recently established the Redirect Recycling business as a highly successful processor of timber materials. Prior to this, Geoff’s career spanned roles in sales, operations, and commercial management for Suez, URM, JJ’s, and Wastech, to name a few.
As Market Development Manager, Geoff is tasked with leading the development of products derived from the waste we accept, creating a systematic approach to developing investment cases, including market and customer analysis, financial modelling and measurements and targets to measure performance, and executing the delivery of new product lines, drawing on the skills and experience of his team and the broader Breen team.
